Club sponsoring Christmas event this weekend

Did you receive a note about the Kamp for Kids Food Drive on your door last weekend? Please have any non perishable foods, toys, and/or toiletry items in a bag, with a note, on the door ready for 9 a.m. pickup Dec. 2. The boy scouts will pick up the bag. Any cash donations should be given to Salvation Army directly at their office in downtown Fairmont.

The Civic and Commerce Club sponsored Deck the Halls Believe in the Magic of a Christmas Tree event will be this weekend at the Community Building in Sherburn, below the theatre. Decorating trees will be 5-8 p.m. Dec. 1 and the voting for the favorite tree will be 1-7 p.m. Dec. 2 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. There will also be a vendor show during those times. Sherburn Drama Club will serve a meal 5-7 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday the Lions will serve breakfast. A special treat at 1 p.m. Saturday will be a free movie for children and Santa will be there after the movie. Bring your camera.

Sherburn Theatre will feature the Disney movie Wish for Dec. 1-3. Show times are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

St. John’s Friendship Club will sponsor a breakfast 8:30 a.m. Dec. 4 at the Sherburn Legion. There will be a choice of egg bake or biscuits and gravy.

CREST will hold a Care Giver Support Group 10 a.m. Dec. 2 at Trinity Church in Trimont.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 and 6 by city hall in Sherburn. Call (507) 238-8500 for an appointment.

Sherburn City council will meet 5 p.m. Dec. 4th for their first December meeting.

Condolences to the family of Betty Jo Hatfield from Sherburn who passed away recently. She will be missed.

Martin County West Athletes have a busy schedule.

-Tomorrow the boys basketball team will play 7 p.m. at Lake Crystal, Gymnastics team will have a meet 6 p.m. at Jackson and the hockey teams will play 7 p.m. at Waseca.

-Girls basketball will be 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Sherburn against Nicollet and boys hockey will be 7:15 p.m. at Winona.

-Wrestlers will meet 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at Blue Earth and the boys hockey will travel to Sauk Centre for a 1 p.m. match.

-Girls Basketball will play 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at Loyola and boys basketball will host Jackson at Trimont at 7 p.m.

-Gymnastics will be 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at Fairmont’s Live Fit, girls basketball will be 7 p.m. at Sherburn against Lake Crystal and boys basketball will be 7 p.m. at Trimont against Nicollet. Good Luck Mavericks.
