SHERBURN -- Thanksgiving Day is this Thursday. I hope you have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving Day and are able to celebrate with family.

Thanksgiving church services in the area are: St. John's Lutheran on Thanksgiving Eve at 6 p.m. and their dual congregation at Wilbert will be 9:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, both will have communion. St. Luke's Catholic church members are invited to Good Shepherd in Jackson at 8:30 a.m Thanksgiving Day. Neither the Regional Worship Center nor the Circle of Faith Parishes have scheduled any Thanksgiving Services.

Sherburn Theatre will feature the Disney movie "The Wish" Nov. 24-26 and Dec. 1-3. The show times are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Martin County West Schools will have a break from Nov. 23-27. Monday will be off for a teacher's workshop. The athletes have games scheduled. The Girl's Basketball will be 1:30 p.m. November 25 at Minnesota West in Worthington vs Edgerton. On Nov. 27 the Girls Basketball team will be in Winthrop vs GFW at 7:15 p.m. On Nov. 30 the Boys Basketball team will be at Lake Crystal at 7m p.m. and the Gymnastics Girls team will travel to Jackson. On Monday there will be a Memory Café event 3 p.m. at Temperance Lake Ridge for family and caregivers of dementia patients.

The Red Cross Blood Drive will be in Fairmont at the Best Western Motel from Nov. 28-30. The hours on the 28 will be 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. and on the 29th the hours will be Noon to 6 p.m. with hours on the 30th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call the 800 number or go online to make an appointment or get a rapid pass to help expedite the registration time. Do you have a tree planned for the Deck the Halls, Believe in the Magic of a Christmas Tree event? Maybe you are a vendor that will have a table of things to sell. Sign up at Bank Midwest or Sherburn Nursery by Nov. 29. The Civic and Commerce Club event will be held at the Community Building Dec. 2-3. Decorate your tree Dec. 1 from 5-8 p.m. The voting for favorite tree will happen on Dec. 2 from 1-7 p.m. and Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A vendor show will also be held these days. A free movie will be shown for children at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Santa will be there. Sherburn Drama Club will serve the meal from 5-7 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday the Lions will serve breakfast.
