CEYLON — Today there will be a Cribbage Tournament 1:15 p.m. at Welcome Legion Hall. The public is welcome to join the cribbage fun.

Tonight there will be a service with communion 5:30 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon. Area residents are welcome to attend. They also invite area residents to join them for Bible Study 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday morning.

Belated Congratulations to Larry and Barb Schmidt who celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary on November 7. Cards will reach them at 1601 Cadillac Ave., Fairmont, MN 56031. Larry and Barb are former Ceylon residents. What a Milestone!

Sunday will be the last Sunday to contribute monetary donations to Heaven’s Table Food Shelf at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert. The LWML will give the money to Heaven’s Table next week to help others have a happy Thanksgiving meal. The Wilbert LWML is also planning a Christmas Social 1:30 p.m. December 14 with a salad luncheon and a program and then a Bake and Craft Sale Table opportunity. The ladies in the congregation and the ladies in Ceylon are welcome to join them to Celebrate the Reason for the Season, Jesus’ Birthday.

The Dual Congregations of St. Paul’s in Wilbert and St. John’s in Sherburn plan to have Thanksgiving services, St. John’s at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve and Wilbert at 9:30 a.m. Thanksgiving Day. Both of the services will have communion. The Circle of Faith parishes have not scheduled any Thanksgiving services.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon are busy preparing for the coming holidays. They will light a Giving Tree 6 p.m. Nov. 25 on main street and will be accepting donations and donations of toys that will be available to parents of Ceylon children on December 18. There is a form at the post office to fill out for Ceylon families. Please drop of the filled form at the drop box at City Hall prior to the Dec. 18 date. There are collection boxes for toys and other donations at Bomgaars, Sterling Drug, Tractor Supply Co., and Dollar Store in Fairmont or contact any of the Helping Hands members. They are also planning a Holiday Fun Santa Day 2-4 p.m. Dec. 16 in the extra room in back of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill. Bring a camera and Christmas goodies will be served.

The City of Ceylon will again have a Holiday Lighting Contest for the city residents. Watch for further information here and in the utility bills for residents of Ceylon.

Dec. 1st is not too far off and Lake Belt Bar and Grill will have the band IV Play on that date. Pre sale tickets are $10 (venmo@JordanBurm1) tickets at the door are $15. The music starts at 9 p.m.
