MCW School play this week

SHERBURN — Today there will be a Lunch-n-Learn program at First Lutheran Church in Trimont beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon. These Crest sponsored programs are free to anyone in Martin County. A free will donation is appreciated for the lunch.

Tonight is Hamburger Night at the Sherburn Legion from 5-8 p.m. A burger with all the fixin’s and a salad and beans for only $10. The Feather Party (Bingo for Turkeys) at the Legion will be on Friday, Nov. 17, beginning at 7 p.m. Besides over 30 turkeys there will be door prizes and steak dinner prizes given for bingos. Sounds like fun.

Condolences to the family of Reinhold Hagen a former Dunnell/Sherburn resident who passed away recently.

Sherburn Theatre will be the site for the MCW Drama Dept. School Play titled The Little Mermaid on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17 and 18, at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. (note the change of time on Sun.) The tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and are available at the door. There will also be a Bake Sale in the lobby and

concessions available. Support our local drama department and students. The movie for Nov. 24-26 is The Wish.

November 13-17 is American Education Week. Thank you to the MCW staff and support employees for all you do.

Monday, Nov. 20, the St. Johns Holiday Greens are scheduled to be delivered. And it is the night that the Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the parking lot of the Regional Worship Center just south of I 90 in Sherburn.

The Mayo Mobile Clinic is scheduled to be in Sherburn on Nov. 20 and again on Nov. 22 both days hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please call the appointment number and mention Sherburn Mobile Clinic for an appointment at (507) 238-8500. The van is parked near the City Hall in Sherburn on those days.

Students at MCW are working on Purposefull People and Character Traits of Gratitude (to appreciate people and things in our lives). The Community Education and Recreation (CER) in MCW has many opportunities coming up. Check out the art projects class, sewing machine class, pajama pants class, and the pre-K to 6th grade Wrestling opportunity to name a few. Information on the school newsletter and the web page at www.martin.k12.mn.us is very helpful. There will be no school for Thanksgiving on November 23 and 24 and then on Monday the 27th also, for a teacher’s workshop. On the 27th the FFA fruit is scheduled to be delivered.

Athletes at MCW are planning some winter sports games. There is a hockey game at Luverne on November 21 at 5:30 p.m.

The Girls Basketball are scheduled for after Thanksgiving Nov. 25 at Worthington and Nov. 27 at Winthrop. Good Luck Mavericks.

The Civic and Commerce Club Deck the Halls, Believe in the magic of

a Christmas Tree, tree decorating contest and vendor sale is December 1 and 2 so don’t forget to sign up with your decorating team by November 29 at Bank Midwest of Sherburn Nursery. There will be a free movie and Santa will be there for pictures. Supper on Dec 1 will be served by the Drama Dept. Of MCW and breakfast on Dec 2 will be served by the Lions Club.
