Faribault County OKs agreement

BLUE EARTH– The Faribault County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday and approved a formal agreement with the city of Elmore for the Faribault County Sheriff’s Department to provide law enforcement coverage for the city.

The Sheriff’s Department had already been providing service to Elmore.

“This makes it a formal agreement,” Faribault County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Scott Adams said. “Elmore will pay the county $45,000 in 2024 with a three percent increase per year beginning in 2025 and every year following.”

The Elmore City Council has already approved the agreement.

“We will also take possession of all of the current police equipment owned by the city of Elmore,” Adams continued. “This includes a vehicle, guns, computers and other miscellaneous items.”

According to Adams, the vehicle they get from Elmore would most likely be used to transport prisoners.

The commissioners approved the agreement.

Public Works director Mark Daly told the board that work on both bridges near Winnebago was complete and work on the bridge northwest of Elmore should be done later this week.

“The full-depth reclamation on County Road 11 has begun but is going slower than we anticipated,” Daly added. “We hope to have all of the full-depth reclamation, which includes parts of CR 17 and CR 23, done by the end of this month.”

The commissioners also:

— Approved the hiring of Jaqueline Frederickson as a full-time dispatch/jailer.

— Appointed county coordinator Brian Hov as a MCIT (Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust) voting delegate alternate.

— Changed the date of the first board meeting in December to Thursday, Dec. 7.

Starting at $2.99/week.
