Mobile Clinic next week in Sherburn

SHERBURN — There will be a CREST-sponsored Lunch & Learn beginning 11 a.m. today, Oct. 18, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. The program will be Becca from the Senior Linkage Line in Mankato. Helpful resources for seniors will be shown. After the program there will be a lunch of meatballs and gravy on rice, glazed carrots and apple dessert. This is free to anyone in Martin County but a donation for the lunch would be appreciated.

There will be the famous ‘Hamburger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. tonight, Oct. 18, at the Sherburn Legion Hall, featuring a burger with all the fixings, a salad and beans. Plan to attend.

There will be a football game vs. St. James at 7 p.m. tonight, Oct. 18, in Sherburn. There will be no school the rest of the week since it is MEA break.

The Sherburn Theatre is showing ‘Hocus Pocus’ to celebrate Halloween and the movie’s 30th anniversary. Show times this weekend are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday. See a classic movie for only $5 a ticket. What a deal.

The Memory Cafe will be open to all those who are dealing with dementia patients at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the Temperance Lake Ridge facility. That facility would like to remind parents that children are welcome to come and show their costumes and get treats, no tricks from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, near the city hall building in Sherburn. Call for an appointment at (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn clinic.

There are two more community information meetings scheduled to help inform the public about the Nov. 7th referendum vote concerning the proposed new school for Martin County West school district. The meetings are at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Welcome Legion and 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the Dunnell Community Hall. Be an informed voter.

American Red Cross blood drives will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20 at the Fairmont Legion, at 300 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 27, at Cross Fit gym in Fairmont. Also on November 6 the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn and Martin Luther High School in Northrop will host blood drives. The youth group from St. John’s Lutheran Church is selling wreaths, swag and other holiday greens. Order by Oct. 25 and delivery will be on Nov. 20. Check out the items and prices on St. John’s church website or at the entry of the church.

The month of October is almost over and the Community Chest fundraiser is scheduled to end. Make sure you have donated by sending your donation to Community Chest, Box 504, Sherburn, MN 56171 or dropping your donation off at Bank Midwest in Sherburn.

There are a few upcoming events:

• Sherburn Fire Department will have Turkey Bingo with over 30 turkeys available for prizes on Nov. 3 at the Sherburn Fire Hall.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church will have a fall dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 12.

• Sherburn Civic and Commerce Club will have a tree decorating contest and vendor event on Dec. 1 and 2. Sign up at Bank Midwest or the Sherburn Nursery by Nov. 29.
