WELCOME -- The Welcome City Council met Tuesday evening. Clean Up Day for Welcome residents only will be from 8-10 a.m. or whenever the truck is full on Oct. 21. The truck will be on Campbell Street near the fire hall. Notice of the Clean Up Day was included with the utility bills (water bill) for residents of Welcome with a list of things accepted and those not accepted. This is a free service and would be the ideal time to get rid of the items that are an ordinance violation for some residents. The list is also on Facebook and the City website.
The council also discussed the OSHA report. The three compliance issues at the Waste Water Plant have already been fixed. The fire hall issue needs more time and an extension has been filed until that is upgraded. The question about employees going up on the water
tower was answered that both employees know when the other employee is going to do something up on the tower and are alerted.
In other news:
-- The council approved the liquor licenses for Welcome Legion and Casey's.
-- The Westrum Leak Detection Report was discussed and the two leaks have been repaired or corrected at VanAmber Street West and the hydrant at Kruse Street and Third Street.
-- A valve shut off tool was discussed with the City Works employee. The city clerk reported that she can alert the part of the city that water shut off will effect. The residents can sign up for that public alert at Welcome City Hall.
-- Skid loader bids were discussed and the council approved the lowest bid which was from Yeager for $26,000+ with the changes they needed. That was for a 2024 S86 and will be similar to the one they have now.
-- The Jetter truck is scheduled to be in Welcome next week.
The next meeting of the Welcome City Council is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the city hall in Welcome.
