TRUMAN -- Fire won't wait so plan your escape during Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 8-14. Everyone needs to be prepared in advance, so that they know what to do when the smoke alarm sounds. Have a plan for everyone in the home. Also make sure you have a house number that is visible.
Truman Active Living group will meet 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10. Any interested Truman-area resident is welcome to join this group at the Truman Museum. Sub-sandwich fundraiser for the Truman High School after-prom party is taking orders until October 13. The cost is $6 each or 10 for $55. The 10-12 inch bun made at Schmidt's Bakery is layered with sliced ham, turkey, white and yellow American cheese, no lettuce or mayo so they freeze well. To order, contact a THS sophomore, junior or senior student or Zanna Sill at (507) 384-8471. Orders can be picked up from 3:30-6 p.m. on Nov. 1, at the THS cafeteria. The American Red Cross bloodmobile will make a stop at the Truman High School from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11. The bloodmobile will be set up in the elementary activity room. Truman Days organizers seek someone to head up the little Mr. and Ms. Truman pageant for the celebration in 2024, Truman's 125th birthday. Information from past pageants is available to help with planning. Those interested should contact Theresa at (507) 236-

The great puzzle race at the Truman Public Library begins 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 12. It's a fun adult race, so get your team of 4 friends together or a single person can sign up and they can bunch people together. Then it's a race to see which team is done first.
Truman Fire and Rescue department is combining their fire prevention open house and fall burger bash from 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 14. You can dine in or get your meal to go.
