WELCOME — Sunday is October 1st. Circle of Faith parishes change the place for their Sunday services in October. They will hold a 9 a.m. service at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon and a 10:30 a.m. service at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome.

Monday will be the first Monday of the month so the senior citizens group will meet for their noon potluck meal on Oct. 2, at the Welcome Legion Hall with fellowship to follow. Any senior citizen in the area is welcome especially if your town does not have a senior

citizens group. Bring a dish to pass and your own utensils please.

Monday, Oct. 2, is also the date for two American Red Cross blood drives. The first one is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, and the second one is noon to 6 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. There is an urgent need for blood so give if you can.

Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Welcome City Hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, please contact the city hall at (507) 728-8740 prior to the meeting.

There will be a vendor show, with over 20 vendors, beginning 9 a.m. on Oct. 7, at the Regional Worship Center, just south of I-90 in Sherburn. There will be a food truck available also.

Lake Promenaders Square Dance group will meet 6 p.m. on Oct. 8, at the Shaw Home located at 804 W. 1st St. in Welcome.

Upcoming events include:

• There will be a Clean-Up Day in Welcome from 8-10 a.m. (or whenever the truck is full) on Oct. 21 near the fire hall on Campbell Street. This is for Welcome residents only so be prepared to show proof of residency.

• A community informational meeting concerning the referendum for a proposed new school for MCW will begin 5:30 p.m. Oct. 24, at the Welcome Legion.

• There will be a Burger Night fundraiser to benefit the Summer Festival starting 5 p.m. Oct. 27, at the Welcome Legion Hall.
