Lunch and Learn Oct. 4
SHERBURN — There will be a men’s breakfast from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. Area men are welcome to join them.

This weekend, Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, the Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie ‘Paw Patrol-the Mighty Movie.’ Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Thursday, Sept. 28, the MCW cross-country team will travel and meet the WEM team at 4:30 p.m. The volleyball team will also travel to Nicollet for a 7 p.m. game. On Saturday, Sept. 30, the football team will meet in Wabasso for a 3 p.m. game. On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the volleyball team will battle St. Clair at 7 p.m. in Trimont. Good luck Mavericks.

This Sunday is Oct. 1st. The Regional Worship Center will welcome their new Pastor, Joshua Caldwell, at the 10 a.m. service. Pastor Caldwell and his wife and seven daughters come from Arkansas. We welcome them to Sherburn and the state of Minnesota.

Sunday is also a special day for the Lutheran Women’s Mission (LWML) group from St. John’s Lutheran Church and other area Lutheran churches as it is the date for the Blue Earth Zone Fall Mission Gathering (Rally) in Northrop. Registration begins at 1 p.m., then the program and a dessert lunch follows at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. The speaker will be Stan Tordsen who will share information about the English Conversation Partners mission program. The women attending are invited to bring their Gifts from the Heart for first responders to use to calm traumatized children and wear/bring a hat as part of the entertainment program. It sounds like a fun ice-breaker to meet new women in Mission.

St. Luke’s Catholic Church start their Sunday morning services for October to December beginning 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. They also have services starting 8:30 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Temperance Lake Ridge facility.

There will be American Red Cross blood drives from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 2, at Grace Lutheran in Fairmont, and noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. Also, a blood drive is planned for Nov. 6 in Sherburn. To make an

There will be a CREST-sponsored Lunch & Learn program beginning 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Sherburn Senior Center near the city hall building followed by a light lunch. These interesting programs are free to anyone living in Martin County. A free will donation is appreciated for the lunch.

The Sherburn Legion will have their ‘Hamburger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4. The menu includes a burger, beans and salad for only $10.
**
Candy bar sales from MCW Elementary schools will end Monday, Oct. 2. Better get your box now. Help them raise funds for the field trips they plan each year. The Martin County West FFA will be selling fruit which will be delivered the Monday after Thanksgiving. They are
planning a corn drive also. Picture day for the schools is Oct. 22, and there are several opportunities in October for community informational meetings in the area concerning the new facilities referendum.

The Community Chest fundraiser will continue until the end of October, so you still have time to donate at Bank Midwest in Sherburn or mail a donation to Box 504, Sherburn, MN 56171. Donations go to local organizations.

The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, located just south of I-90 will have a vendor show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 7. There will be over 20 vendors and JO JO Food truck will be available. Plan now to attend.

The Sherburn Fire Department has over 30 turkeys to give as prizes at their turkey bingo fundraiser planned for Nov. 3rd at the fire hall.

Have you lined up your group to decorate a Christmas Tree and/or have a vendor table at the Civic and Commerce Club’s ‘Deck the Halls’ event scheduled for Dec. 2 and 3 at the Sherburn Community Building.
