MCW Homecoming this Friday

SHERBURN — There will be a Lunch & Learn sponsored by CREST beginning 11 a.m. today, Sept. 20, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. The program will feature a presentation by Joyce Peterson showing pictures of her recent trip to the North Shore, Minn. A chef’s surprise lunch will follow the presentation. This is free to anyone in Martin County. A free will donation for the lunch is appreciated.

The Sherburn Legion will have its ‘Hamburger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 20. The menu includes a burger, salad, and beans for only $10.

Friday night is the homecoming football game for MCW against RTR at 7 p.m. The senior class will have a chili feed in the cafeteria at the high school in Sherburn. Proceeds will go toward their class trip. The homecoming parade will begin at 2 p.m. followed by a pep fest.

The MCW cross country team will go to Jackson at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21. Also, the volleyball team will travel to Lake Crystal for a 7 p.m. game. The volleyball also plays Cleveland at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Good luck to all the Mavericks.

Speaking of the Mavericks, congratulations to a former Maverick, Stacy (Faber) Garbers, who will be honored by Bethany College in Mankato as a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame there. Stacy is currently an administrative assistant at Fairmont High School.

The Maverick elementary schools have started their candy bar sales to raise money for the field trips they take during the year. Sales runthrough October 9.

There will be a fundraiser for the Kyle and Lori Korselman family from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at Sherburn High School. The Lions Club will make breakfast for a free will donation and there will be a silent auction. Proceeds will help them with

medical expenses.

Memory CafÈ, for caregivers and family of dementia patients, will meet 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at the Temperance Lake Ridge facility.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held 2-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at St. John Vianney Church in Fairmont. Also, on Oct. 2,there will be blood drives at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and St. Paul’s UCC Church in Welcome. To find times and locations of

The last Tuesday coffee hour for September at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome will be from 8:30-10 a.m. on Sept. 26. Join friends for a cup of coffee and fellowship.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27. The van will be parked near the city hall building. To make an appointment, call (507) 238-8500 and mention Sherburn.

Mark your calendars for the vendor fair on Oct. 7, at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn and the vendor show and Christmas tree decorating on Dec. 2 and 3 at the Sherburn Community Building.
