SHERBURN -- There will be a Lunch & Learn beginning 11 a.m. today, Sept. 6, at the Sherburn Senior Center. After the program there will be a light lunch. This is a free event for residents of Martin County. A donation for the lunch is appreciated.

The Sherburn Legion will have its 'Hamburger Night' from 5-8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 6. A burger, salad and beans costs only $10. What a deal. The Sherburn Legion will also have their monthly 'Steak Fry Night' from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, with a menu including choice of ribeye, shrimp or smoked pork chop, salad bar, baked potato and garlic toast for only $20. The legion will meet for their monthly meeting at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, and the legion auxiliary will meet 7 p.m. that night at the Legion Hall. All members are urged to attend.

Tuesday coffee hours for September continue from 8:30-10 a.m. on Sept. 12, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, goodies and great fellowship. St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn would like to thank all those

The food shelf at the Congregational Church on North Prairie St. in Sherburn will be open 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12 and from 9-10 a.m. on Sept. 16.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3' this weekend, Sept. 8-10. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have a special 'Church at the Park' service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10, for a Rally Day since their Sunday School will begin Sept. 17. They will meet at Everett Park by Fox Lake. After the service, there will be a brunch
and fun activities. The church would also like to remind people that there will be a service starting 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Temperance Lake Ridge. The LWML ladies group from the church will meet 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, near the city hall building. Call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn clinic.

School starts this week at Martin County West and for other schools in the area. Please drive safely and watch for excited children who may not be watching traffic carefully. Obey the school bus stop sign rules. The school newsletter is filled with information like supply lists for each class, student handbook information and more. MCW Community, Education and Recreation has lots of items like football cheer camp, Maverick dance classes, the www.mcknowhow robotics group, preschool and more. The FFA has information about the annual corn drive and membership information. The elementary schools will have student candy bar sales fundraisers for field trips. The athletes have already had some games in August and will be busy in September too. Thursday, Sept. 7, the volleyball team will play 4:30 p.m. in Fairmont. Friday, Sept. 8, the football team will host Adrian with a 7 p.m. game in Sherburn. On Saturday, Sept. 9,the volleyball team will play 8:30 a.m. in the Maple River Invitational and the cross country team will travel to Luverne for a 9:30 a.m. meet. On Monday, Sept. 11, the volleyball team will host GFW for a 7 p.m. game in Trimont. On Tuesday, Sept. 12, the volleyball team will head to Alden Conger for a 7 p.m. game and the cross country team will meet 4 p.m. at Baylor Park against NWYA. The school is anticipating homecoming activities during the week of Sept. 18-22 with a football game at 7 p.m. on Sept. 22 against RTR, and a chili feed fundraiser. Watch for further information.
