SHERBURN -- There will be two American Red Cross blood drives on Friday, Aug. 25, in Fairmont. The first will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Legion, 300 Downtown Plaza, and the second will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cross Fit gym. There will also be blood drives from Sept. 5-7 at the Best Western in Fairmont. Each blood donation may save up to three lives.

Since this is the last Saturday of the month, a men's breakfast will be held 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. Area men are welcome.

The last Sundaes in the Park in Trimont is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, and the entertainment is the Fett Brothers. Bring your lawn chair and get an awesome sundae. Donations are appreciated for the sundaes. This concert is free at the park in Trimont.

The Sherburn American Legion Hall will be the site for the Legion pork chop and sweet corn feed which will be held 4:30-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27. Sounds good.

Speaking of sweet corn, the St. John's youth group would like to thank all those who picked, sold and bought the sweet corn at their fundraiser and especially the farmer that donated his field of corn. They are done with that fundraiser. Thank you to the Sherburn
Nursery for the place to sell the corn.

St. John's Lutheran Church they will have the last Tuesday coffee hours from 8:30-10 a.m. on Aug. 29. Join friends and neighbors for good brew and great fellowship. Tuesday coffee hours for September will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Welcome.

The Temperance Lake Ridge facility will host Memory CafÈ, for caregivers and families of patients with dementia, starting at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28. Area caregivers are welcome.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie "Miracle Club" this weekend, Aug. 25-27. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Summer is almost over. Congratulations to the ribbon winners and state fair winners from the Martin County Fair. School activities are starting as well. Martin County West Schools for grades 7-12 will begin on Sept. 5, while grades K-6 will begin Sept. 7. Athletic teams have games and meets scheduled. The cross-country team will travel to the Beresford Invitational on Friday, Aug. 25. On Saturday, Aug. 26, the volleyball team will participate in the Adrian Invitational. On Aug. 31, the volleyball team will play in Fairmont, and on Sept. 1, the football team will travel to Canby for a 7 p.m. game and the
cross-country team will travel to Sioux Falls for a 6 p.m. meet. Good luck to the Mavericks.
