SHERBURN -- There will be a Lunch and Learn program beginning 11 a.m. today, Aug. 16, at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont, with a light lunch to follow. These programs are free to those who live in Martin County. A free will donation is appreciated for the lunch.

The Sherburn Legion will have their Hamburger Night fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. tonight, Aug. 16, featuring a burger, salad and baked beans for only $10. Sounds like a good deal and yummy too.

The Martin County Fair in Fairmont is going on this week Aug. 14-20. FFA Day is Thursday, Aug. 17. Good luck to all exhibitors, 4-H, open class and FFA. Check out Minnesota’s Other Big Fair.

Sherburn City Council will meet 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Sherburn City Hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact city hall prior to the meeting date by calling (507) 764-4491.

Martin County West School Board will have a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, in the elementary school by the District office.

Ruby’s Pantry will have a grocery distribution from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn just south of I-90. For $25 you get a trunk full of groceries loaded for you.

Martin County West School District has scheduled meetings for agricultural landowners in the school district to help explain some of the tax impact the proposed new school project would have on those landowners. One meeting is at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Sherburn Legion Hall. The other meeting is at 3 p.m. on Aug. 23 at Triumph Hall in Trimont. Upcoming events include:
• On Aug. 25 there will be two American Red Cross blood drives in Fairmont from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Legion, 300 Downtown Plaza, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cross Fit gym.
• Fall Sports practices are beginning. Meets and games are scheduled for later in August with cross-country on Aug. 25 at a Beresford Invitational, and volleyball on Aug. 26 at an Adrian Invitational and on Aug. 31 in Fairmont.
• The last Sundaes in the Park in Trimont will be at 6 p.m. on Aug.27 with entertainment by the Fett Brothers.
• MCW schools begin Sept. 5 for students in grades 7-12 and Sept.7 for everyone in grades K-12.
