Active Living looks for donations

TRUMAN — If you want an evening of entertainment, come to Rosburg ball diamond at 6 p.m. Saturday evening, Aug. 12, to see the Truman ambulance crew take on the St. James crew in a game of wiffle ball.

A bridal shower for Jacklyn Bosshart, bride-to-be of Stuart Backstrom, will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at the Truman Community Building.

The Kitchen Island in the Truman Community Building has a beautiful new look with new sinks, faucet and Cambria countertop. Truman Active Living is hoping to get donations from businesses and individuals to upgrade the serving counter and the floor. Any donation will be appreciated. Checks should be made out to City of Truman with community building put in the memo space.

The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at the Presbyterian Church, 240 N. St. East in Amboy, Minn. Every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org and enter AMBOYMN to schedule an appointment.

If you would like to become an EMT, a class is being scheduled to be held October or November in Truman. If you have a desire to help people, please consider taking this class regardless of the community in which you live. If you are a resident of Truman or have 10-minute response time, the classes are offered to you at no cost. For more information call Josh at (507) 236-9485 or pick up an application at the Truman City Hall, 202 W Ciro St. They are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Wednesday is recycling day. Please place your recycling container curbside by 7 a.m.

Day camp at Trinity Lutheran church for all kids, ages 4-7, will be held 2-5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27. Creatures big and small activities include snack, craft, songs and games. Contact Ashley at (507) 829-9741 to register by August 14. If any older kids would like to volunteer, please let Ashley know.

Household hazardous waste collection will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday in August at Prairieland Solid Waste in Truman. Bring your old cleaning supplies, old gas, oil and garage/automotive items for FREE. Also, appliances and electronics are accepted for a fee. No tires accepted.
