SHERBURN -- Welcome to August! Where is the summer going?
St. John's Lutheran Youth Group will be selling sweet corn 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., this week, at Sherburn Nursery and Sunday morning at the church 8 a.m. to after services. They will be selling at the Nursery after church. The corn was donated by a member of the congregation and all proceeds will go to the Youth Group. Sounds yummy and for a good cause too.
Through the month of August, the St. John's Lutheran Ladies group (LWML) will have a baby shower for the Options Pregnancy Center. They will have a play pen at the entry to the church for items donated and donations of monies. Contact any member of the LWML or look on Facebook for the Church’s posts and find a list of the items most needed. Thank you for collection for the moms and babies.
Condolences to the family of Roger Mathwig from Dunnell who passed away recently. He will be missed.
Gather at the park in Trimont 6 p.m., August 6, for Sundaes at the Park. Entertainment from Vicki Beckendorf. Free will donation.
Sherburn City Council is scheduled to meet 5 p.m., August 7, at City Hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always a time for public comment/questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda please contact the City Hall prior to the meeting at (507) 764-4491.
There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive 1-7 p.m., Monday, August 7, at the Covenant Church in Trimont. Call (800) 733-2767 or go online to www.redcrossblood.org or text blood app to 90999 for information and to schedule an appointment.
Crest Caregivers Support Group will meet 10 a.m., Monday, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont. All caregivers and family of patients are welcome to come.
Tuesday Coffee Hours are held 8:30 to 10 a.m., each Tuesday in August, at St. John's Lutheran Church. All area residents are welcome to good coffee and goodies and great fellowship.
Sherburn Legion will meet 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 8. All members are urged to attend.
Upcoming events include: Sherburn Legion's Steak Fry night on August 12. Plan to attend; Registration for Martin County West School's 2023-2024 school year begins August 14. Register online or if you do not have access to a computer, check in at the school office to use their technology The offices will re-open on August 7th. Information is also on the school website, www.martin.k12.mn.us and newsletter. School begins after Labor Day.
