CEYLON -- Tuesday will be August 1, so most of the news items in this column pertain to August.
Congratulations to the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon who will celebrate their one year anniversary today. They plan to have an outside band concert with Tank Anthony starting at 8 p.m. tonight (the grill will be closed at 8 p.m.). Best wishes for more years in business in Ceylon.
In August Tuesday Coffee Hours will be held 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, goodies and great fellowship.
Lake Belt Bar and Grill will have an all you can eat fish fry from 5 p.m. until their gone, August 4th. They also plan to have a bean bag tournament 6 p.m., August 11th. Contact them at (507) 632-4696 for further information and check out their Facebook posts.
St. Peter Lutheran Church ladies group will meet 9 a.m., Wednesday, August 2nd, at the church. All members are urged to attend.
St. Peter Church will host August Sunday services for the Circle of Faith Parishes at 9 a.m. in Ceylon.
The Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome will host August Sunday services at 10:30 a.m.
The Ceylon area Historical Society Museum will be open 1-3 p.m., Sunday, August 6th. Check out the interesting items from the City, School, area and Legion. This is the last Sunday open house this year. Viewing the museum may be done by appointment during the rest of the year by contacting any of the directors; Ron Leiding, Tom Bents and Greg Bents, Marilyn Stelter, Ann Yackle, and Steve Houfer.
The Red Cross Blood Drive will be in Trimont at the Covenant Church on August 7 from 1-7 p.m. They plan to have blood drives in Fairmont on August 25 at the American Legion on Downtown Plaza from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at Cross Fit gym from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Give blood if you are able since the need for blood is urgent.
