Fall EMT classes being offered
TRUMAN– If you would like to become an EMT, a class is being scheduled to be held in Truman in October or November. If you have a desire to help people, please consider taking this class regardless of the community in which you live. If you are a resident of Truman or have a 10-minute response time, the classes are offered to you at no cost. August is Family Fun Month.
Wednesday is recycling day. Be sure all your cardboard is broken down and all cans and bottles are clean. Recycling containers should be curbside by 7 a.m.
Household hazardous waste collection will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. every Wednesday in August at Prairieland Solid Waste in Truman. Bring your old cleaning supplies, old gas, oil, and garage/automotive items for FREE. Also, appliances and electronics are accepted for a fee. No tires accepted.
“Find your voice.” Storytime followed by a craft for kids will take place 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Truman Public Library. This is the last Storytime for the summer. Library hours are 1:30 -5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. If you have any questions call Theresa at (507) 776-2717.
Truman Pride meeting will be 6 p.m., August 9th, at the Truman Schools. Pride in our school, pride in our students, pride in our future. Get involved and help Truman school succeed. Come join. All are welcome.
Mayo Clinic Health System is offering sports screenings for athletes entering grades 7-12 in the 2023-2024 school year. Sports screenings will be offered in Mayo Clinic Health Systems’ mobile health clinic at a cost of $20. Some things to help you prepare for your appointment, wear gym shorts and t-shirt, bring your completed MSHL physical form, if under age 18 have a parent or guardian present, and do not consume caffeine or sports drinks prior. Immunizations will be offered during the sports screening. Parent/Guardian consent is required to receive immunizations. The mobile health clinic will be at these locations: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., August 4th & 11th, at Martin County West junior/senior high school in Sherburn, 105 E 5th St. (507) 238-8500; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., August 5th for Granada & Truman at Granada Huntley East Chain School, 300 Reynolds St.
Lewisville Fun Daze begins 7:30 a.m., August 5 with the ambulance pancake breakfast, garage sales/craft vendor fair. At 10 a.m., registration for kids pedal pull at 10:30 a.m., noon-4 p.m. kid’s activities; bingo at noon, daybreak band at 2:30 and Karaoke competition at 5 p.m. Pre-registration is required. From 7:30 p.m. – 12 a.m. there will be entertainment on Main. Food/beverages available 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Find Lewisville Fun Daze on Facebook.
Lewisville Days Co-Ed/Suicide awareness softball tournament is August 5th and 6th. All beer sales will be donated to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (Please no coolers.) Donations are also welcome. Entry fee is $125 (100% payback-must be paid before you play.) $1000 1st place payout based off 12 teams. Double elimination possibly hard luck depending on number of teams. Bring your own .52/300 balls, 6 homeruns total. ASA rules apply. Winners ump Saturday and losers ump Sunday.
