CEYLON– Today is the date for the Summer Ceylon Auction. The auction begins at 8:30 a.m. and will have at least two rings, possibly three, of machinery items (no household or appliances) for sale.

In conjunction with the Summer Auction there will be vendors of food, the Lake Belt Bar will be open but not the Grill today. The Helping Hands of Ceylon will have a food stand with BBQs, Hot Dogs, and Coney Dogs, Chips, and beverages. They will also have a bake sale and homemade jewelry for sale. They will be near the digital sign on the corner of Railroad Street and Main Street. Proceeds for this non-profit group go towards their projects like park equipment.

Sunday services for the St. Peter Lutheran Church congregation will be available at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome at 9 a.m. or First Lutheran in Trimont at 10:30 a.m. The congregation at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert will have 10 a.m. service Sunday and the Our Savior’s Lutheran will have 5:30 p.m. services tonight. Our Savior’s July 29 service is cancelled. Area residents are welcome to join any of these congregations for services.

Condolences to the families of John (Jack) Zimmer, Robert Barnett, and Roy Trudell former Ceylon area residents who passed away recently. They will be missed.

Monday there will be a Red Cross Blood Drive at St. Vianney Church in Fairmont from 1-7 p.m. August 7 there will be a blood drive in Trimont 1-7 p.m. The need for blood is urgent so give if you are able. Tuesday Coffee Hours continue at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn on Tuesday, July 25 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. In August the Coffee Hours will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Join friends for a cup of coffee and some goodies and fellowship. Ceylon Coffee Lovers also meet each Thursday at the back room of Lake Belt Bar and Grill from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

It doesn’t seem possible that July is almost over. The Up Coming events are scheduled for August. The Ceylon Area Historical Society Museum will be open August 6th from 1-3 p.m. This is the last Sunday for their Summer open hours. Check out the items in the museum from the area, City, School and Legion. It is a very nice museum with many items.
