CEYLON -- There are changes in regards to church services in the area. St. Paul's Wilbert members are reminded that Sunday services are at 10 a.m. during the summer until Labor Day. For the month of July, Circle of Faith parishes, which includes St. Peter Lutheran, have Sunday services at 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome and usually services at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran in Trimont but this Sunday, July 9, the First Lutheran service will be moved to 10 a.m. at Anderson Park in conjunction with the Trimont Days community worship service. On Saturday, July 15, Our Savior's Lutheran in Ceylon will not have their usual 5:30 p.m. service and will join St. Paul Lutheran's congregation for a joint service with communion at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 16, in Wilbert. The joint service is for celebrating the 30 years of service to those dual congregations by Pastor Russell Reimers and his family. St. Paul's in Wilbert will have a special program beginning 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 9, for Pastor Reimer's retirement.
Tuesday coffee hours in July continue from 8:30-10 a.m. on July 11, at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, just south of I-90. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee and great fellowship.
American Red Cross blood drives will be held 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 21, at St. Paul's UCC in Welcome and from 1-7 p.m. July 24, at St. John Vianney Church in Fairmont. To make an appointment or check out dates and times of nearby blood drives, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online to www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOOD APP at 90999. The need for blood is urgent and the summer is usually slower for blood donations, so give if you can. Each blood donation may save up to three lives.
This weekend there will be a summer festival in Trimont with many events and a parade at 2 p.m. today, July 8. There will also be a summer festival in Welcome next weekend with a parade at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, proceeding from south to north (note the changes). Welcome Fire Relief Association will have a chicken feed from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, July 14, at the Welcome Legion Hall. There will also be city-wide garage sales and a cornhole tournament. This is the season for community events.
The summer auction in Ceylon is scheduled for July 22. Machinery items may be consigned beginning July 13 with the Howell Auctioneers.
