Last kid’s ministry tonight

SHERBURN — The baccalaureate service for Martin County West seniors will be held 6:30 p.m. tonight, May 31, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, with refreshments following the service. This is sponsored by the churches in the MCW school district. Congratulations seniors and best wishes for the future.

The graduation ceremony at the high school will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 4. This year, the last day of school for MCW schools is Friday, June 2.

The Regional Worship Center will have its last Kid’s ministry at 7 p.m. tonight, May 31, with a ‘Bash Before Summer’ hiatus. Adult bible study will continue at 7 p.m. on Wednesday nights during the summer.

Thank you to those who helped with the Memorial Day program at the city park and those who helped put up and take down the many flags. It looked like a good sized crew. Thank you to those who served or are serving to keep our freedom, Home of the Brave because of the brave.

Sherburn City Council is scheduled to meet 5 p.m. on June 5 at Sherburn City Hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting without reserving a time. To be on the regular agenda,

June 5 will also be the meeting date for the caregivers support group that starts 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont. All caregivers are welcome.

Tuesday coffee hours for the month of June will get underway from 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends for fellowship and a good cup of coffee every Tuesday.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 5, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, near the city hall. For an appointment, call (507) 238-8500 and mention Sherburn.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature the new Disney release ‘The Little Mermaid.’ Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Friendship Club of St. John’s Lutheran Church will meet 11:30 a.m. June 5 at the St. James Golf Club, located on Highway 60 east of St. James.

American Red Cross blood drives for June will be held June 6-8 at Best Western in Fairmont, on June 12 in Sherburn, and June 19 in Truman. Give if you are able. Thank you.

There will be a CREST-sponsored Lunch and Learn beginning 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, at the Sherburn Senior Center near the city hall building in Sherburn. Lunch will follow the program. This is a free event for anyone from Martin County. A free will donation is

appreciated for the lunch.

Wednesday, June 7, is also ‘Hamburger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. at the Sherburn Legion. For only $10 you will get a grilled hamburger and all the fixings, salad and baked beans. Plan to attend.

Farmer’s Market in Trimont will be held 2:30-5:30 p.m. on June 9, at the Anderson Park shelter house.

The Sherburn Festival is coming June 17 and begins June 16 with a Chicken Lickin fun evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Sherburn Fire Hall on the north end of town, then the street dance with Bill Litzau and Open Highway begins 8 p.m. to midnight. On June 17, the parade will start at 1 p.m. with lineup by the elementary school. Call Nate Klima at (507) 236-5635 or come early to get a number for the parade. Events scheduled include a classic auto and tractor show, a vendor show at the park, Kids Pedal Pull, Sufudu drumline and

Groove drumline, with music from the Bee Kays and Fat City All-Stars, a beer garden, a raffle, bingo, food stands, and inflatables for the young children and a sand volleyball tournament for older youth in the morning. Sounds like a fun weekend in Sherburn.

The Dunnell-Lake Fremont Fire Department will host their annual hog roast from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 18, at the Dunnell Community Hall. A free will donation will help purchase much needed equipment. That day is Father’s Day, so treat your dad to a delicious meal.

Other upcoming events include: Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution on June 19, at the Regional Worship Center and the Martin County Relay for Life on June 24 at the fairgrounds in Fairmont.
