TRUMAN — AJ’s onion rings will be back from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at T-Town Tinker and Towing along Highway 15.

Truman Lions Club Burger Bash will be held 5-7 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the Truman Community Building. Enjoy a delicious hamburger, condiments, chips, beans and a beverage. Take-outs are available. Donations will go towards the Truman Days Parade and the Lions Club will match up to $1,500 in proceeds.

May 21-27 is EMS Week. A big “thank you” goes out to the dedicated group that serves Truman and the surrounding area. You are appreciated.

The Spruce Up Truman committee would like donations to buy plants for their planters. A donation of any amount would be appreciated. Donations may be sent to Profinium at P.O. Box 400, Truman, MN 56088, or dropped off at Profinium located at 414 N. 5th Ave. East. Mention that the donation is for city planters.

Truman Public Library kids summer reading program begins June 5 thru August 4. They will give each kid who comes in the first week a “Free Book” of their choosing. Storytime/crafts will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the library unless a special event is that week. The first special event is “Jolly Pops” on June 14. More information will follow.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation reminds the public that state law prohibits placement of private signs of any kind (i.e., political, lost pet, garage sale and other advertising signage) on highway right-of-way in Minnesota. Highway rights-of-way include driving lanes, inside and outside shoulders, ditches, sight corners at intersections and boulevards in urban areas. In addition, the Minnesota Outdoor Advertising Control Act prohibits placing advertising devices on public utility poles, trees and shrubs and by painting or drawing on rocks or natural features. Signs placed in right-of-way will be removed.
