COR plans annual meeting Monday

SHERBURN — There will be a CREST-sponsored Lunch and Learn program beginning 11 a.m. today, May 17, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. This is free to anyone in Martin County. There will be a lunch following the program. A free will donation for the lunch is

appreciated.

Sherburn Legion will have their ‘Hamburger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. tonight, May 17, at the Sherburn Legion Hall. For only $10 you will get a grilled burger, salad and baked beans.

Memory CafÈ, for caregivers and family of dementia patients, will be held 3 p.m. Monday, May 22, at the Temperance Lake Ridge facility in Sherburn.

The annual meeting of Community Options and Resources will be held 4 p.m. Monday, May 22, at the Regional Worship Center. The public is invited to this 50th annual meeting. Please RSVP by calling Kim Wilkinson at (507) 764-4612, extension 7. Following the meeting, there will be a retirement party for Betty Nordhausen who has been a program director for COR for over 40 years. Congratulations Betty.

Tuesday coffee hours in May continue from 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for a time of fellowship with a good cup of coffee and tasty goodies.

Condolences to the family of Marcia Leverson who passed away recently. She will be missed.

Sherburn Theatre will again feature the movie ‘Book Club, the Next Chapter’ this weekend, May 19-21. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburnfrom 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, May 22 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, near the city hall building. To make an appointment, call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500.

Memorial Day will be celebrated beginning 10 a.m. on May 29, at the Sherburn City Park. In case of inclimate weather, the program will be held at the high school gym. Plan now to attend.

For upcoming events, The CER will offer several events for area children this summer. Go to the school district website for further information and registration forms at www.martin.k12.mn.us. Some ideas are summer ball, park play, Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre and

T-ball Camp.

The next meeting of the Civic and Commerce group in Sherburn will be held 5:30 p.m. on June 6 at the senior center by Sherburn City Hall. They are planting the main street planters. If anyone would like to help by donating, please send donations to the group at Box 108, Sherburn, MN 56171.

Sundaes in the Park in Trimont will begin 6 p.m. on June 11. The Centennial Band will entertain.

Sherburn Festival is slated for June 17. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. (note change of time). The Su Fu Du and Groove Inc. drumlines and the Hobo Band from New Ulm will participate in the parade and perform after the parade. The local Bee Kays band will play at the park and Fat City All Stars will play old rock and roll songs. The weekend of the festival will also be the city-wide garage sales and if anyone would like their sale to be listed, please contact the Martin County Star by June 13th with a payment of $10. The list of sales will be at Casey’s, Kum N Go, and Bank Midwest.

Get a team together for the Martin County Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society which will be held 4-11 p.m. June 24 at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont. Locally, the resource person is Vicki Nelson at (507) 236-7081. Donations

accepted too.

Thank you to the blood donors that participated in the blood drive on May 11, at MCW High School in Sherburn. Upcoming Red Cross blood drives will be June 6-8 at the Best Western Motel in Fairmont, on June 12 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, June 19 in

Martin County West athletes will be busy this week and next week. On Thursday, May 18, the baseball team will play Blue Earth at 4:30 p.m. at the ball fields in Welcome and the softball team will play against Sleepy Eye at 4:30 p.m. at the ball field in Welcome. On

Friday, May 19, the baseball team will play MVL at 4:30 p.m. at Mueller Field in New Ulm, the girls softball team will play a Conference Showcase game at 4:30 p.m. at Caswell Park in North Mankato and the boys and girls golf teams will compete against several teams in a meet at Fox Lake Golf Club, Sherburn. On Monday, May 22, the baseball team will play the Fairmont team at 4:30 p.m. at the Welcome Ball Field and the boys and girls golf teams will have a meet beginning 4:30 p.m. at Fox Lake Golf Club. On Tuesday, May 23, the boys and girls golf teams will have a tournament beginning 9 a.m. in Madelia. Good luck, Mavericks.
