Welcome Clean-Up Day this Saturday

WELCOME — Saturday, April 29, is the Clean Up Day in Welcome. Bring items for the truck to the Campbell Street location by the water tower from 8-10 a.m. or whenever the truck is full. This is for City of Welcome residents only and is free if you take the items to

the truck. Unacceptable items are: hazardous or toxic materials, waste oil or oil filters, any type of liquid, paints, solvents, yard waste, appliances and tires. There is a special appliances and electronics drop off before noon today, April 28, at the Campbell Street site. You must get a tag from city hall, price depends on the appliance, minimum is $10. No hazardous waste or garbage will be accepted. Televisions, computers, monitors, water heaters, microwaves and other appliances will be accepted with a tag. For Welcome residents only.

Welcome residents are reminded to route their sump pump water to their yard or storm sewer NOT the sanitary sewer from April to November. The weather is slowly getting warmer so don’t forget to do this spring chore.

Monday is May 1st, so the senior citizens group will meet for their noon potluck at the Welcome Legion Hall, with fellowship to follow. Any area senior citizen is welcome, especially if your town doesn’t have a senior citizens group. Bring a dish to pass and your own utensils. Join the fun.

The first Tuesday coffee hour is scheduled 8:30-10 a.m. May 2 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee and fellowship.

Welcome City Council is scheduled to meet 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at Welcome City Hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact city hall at

Welcome Historical Society Museum is scheduled to be open 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 6. Check out the interesting items from the town’s history.

The Red Bull Wrestling Club is partnering with the Kiwanis in Fairmont to sponsor a Kiwanis pancake supper from 4:30-7 p.m. on May 8, at the Five Lakes Centre. The all-you-can-eat supper features pancakes, sausage and beverage. Pre-sale tickets are $7 and tickets at the door are $8. Tickets for children, age 12 and under, are $4.50 at the door and $4 for presale. Proceeds will go towards purchasing of uniforms and other needs of the wrestling program. Tickets can be picked up at Sherburn Nursery and Floral and Ron Arens CPA in Fairmont.

Circle of Faith parishes have one more Sunday in April, then in May the services will be held 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome and 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Also, circle the date of May 27 on your calendar and attend the joint

Pentacost vigil service at 6:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont.
