Legion plans ‘Burger Night’ tonight

SHERBURN — There is a CREST-sponsored Lunch and Learn program beginning 11 a.m. today, April 19, at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. The program is about spring planting and participants are asked to bring spring pictures and recipes for spring and summer

goodies. There is a lunch after the program. All of this is free to anyone from Martin County. A free will donation is appreciated for the lunch.

Sherburn Legion is having its ‘Burger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. tonight, April 19. For only $10 they will serve a burger, salad and baked beans.

Trimont is having a city-wide garage sales from April 20-22. Lists of garage sales can be picked up at Trimont City Hall and the Trimont Town Center.

The Sherburn Theatre will once again show ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ this weekend, April 21-23. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday. Next weekend, the movie will be ‘Are you There God? It’s Me Margaret.’

The State FFA Convention will be held April 23-25 at the University of Minnesota.

Temperance Lake Ridge will hold their Memory CafÈ meeting at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 24, at their facility in Sherburn. The meeting is for family and caregivers of dementia patients.

There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 12:30-5:30 p.m. on April 24, at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. There is also a blood drive on May 8, at St. John Vianney in Fairmont on. To find blood drives or times available to give blood, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or go online at ww.redcroossblood.org. The need for blood is urgent, so give if you are able. Thank you.

The Mayo Mobile Clinic is in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 24, and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 26, near the city hall building in Sherburn. Make appointments by calling (507) 238-8500.

Condolences to the families of Kelly Fritz, Ruth Pavich, Norman Kittleson and John “Jack” Studer, who all recently passed away. They will be missed.

Martin County West athletes have ramped up the spring sports schedule. The boys and girls golf teams will compete at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 20 at Terrace View, while the baseball team will compete 4:30 p.m. at Cleveland, and the softball team will be play Lake Crystal at 4:30 p.m. in Welcome. On Friday, April 21, the boys and girls track teams will go to Mountain Lake at 4:15 p.m. On Saturday, April 22, the softball and baseball teams will participate in a tournament beginning 9 a.m. at the ball fields in Welcome. On Monday, April 24, the baseball team will play at 4:30 p.m. in Heron Lake, and the boys and girls golf will compete at the Fox Lake Golf Club at 4:30 p.m. On Tuesday, April 25, the baseball team will battle the team from St. Clair beginning 4:30 p.m. at the ball field in

Welcome.

Upcoming events include a Sherburn Civic and Commerce meeting at 6:30 p.m. on May 2 at the senior center in Sherburn.

The first of the Tuesday coffee hours will start in the month of May and be held 8:30-10 a.m. beginning May 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome.

Sherburn Clean Up Day is set for May 13. Tags for curbside pick-up is $25 at the city hall building. This is for Sherburn residents only.
