Rummage sales deadline Tuesday
CEYLON — Today, April 8, the children of the area may have an Easter Egg Hunt from 1-3 p.m. at the park in Ceylon. Bring a camera and a basket. This is sponsored by the non-profit group, Helping Hands of Ceylon.
Sunday, April 9, is Easter Sunday and area churches have planned special services. St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have a 9 a.m. service. Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have their Easter service at 5:30 p.m. tonight, April 8, with lunch
following. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have a breakfast from 7:45-9 a.m., then a special Easter service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The other Circle of Faith churches will have Easter services at 7 a.m. at Trinity in Welcome, at 8:30 a.m. at First Lutheran in Trimont, and 10:30 a.m. service at Waverly Lutheran north of Welcome. St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome will have a 7 a.m. service and then pancakes. St. John’s Lutheran in Sherburn will have Easter services at 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. with a breakfast between those services from 7:30-9:30 a.m. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn has scheduled an Easter service for 10:30 a.m. and the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have their Easter service at 10 a.m. All area residents are welcome to join any of these congregations for an Easter service.
Tuesday, April 11, is the deadline to get rummage sales information to Linda Bakke at (507) 632-4509 or at obakke@frontiernet.net to get the rummage sale on the map for the Community Day sales. There will be a rummage sale sponsored by the Helping Hands of
Ceylon group from 2-7 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday in the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill. Thank you to all those who donated items to the sale like furniture, clothes of all sizes which will be on a one price per table setting and lots of miscellaneous items. There will also be a special sale from Friday-Sunday of Mildred Miller’s estate at 919 Highway 263 on the way from Welcome to Ceylon with women’s large sizes, antiques, small appliances and miscellaneous. There are many rummage sales in
Ceylon that weekend. The Ceylon Auction is scheduled to begin 8:30 a.m. on April 15 with 2-3 rings all day. Items for consignment can be brought up from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through April 13. Plan to attend all the Community Day happenings in Ceylon next weekend.
Ceylon City Council is scheduled to meet 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Ceylon City Hall. There is always a time set aside at the beginning of the meeting for public comments and questions. There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14, at the Post 36 Legion building, 300 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont, and on April 24, at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. Check out locations and times available, by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or online at www.redcrossblood.org. There is an urgent need for blood and it can not be manufactured, only people donating blood can fill the need. Thank you for helping to save lives by giving blood.
The next grocery distribution for Ruby’s Pantry will be held 5:30-7 p.m. on April 17 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. Check out their Facebook list of items and plan to get a trunk full of groceries for only $25. The RWC is just south of I-90 in Sherburn.
No residency or income guidelines are used.
For upcoming events, The ladies LWML group in Wilbert will have their April meeting at 1:30 p.m. on April 13. All members are urged to attend.
I have received word from five churches that they will have Tuesday coffee hours this summer from May to September. Thank you to those who contacted me with that information. Watch for further news in May.
