WELCOME -- Today, April 7, is Good Friday and the Circle of Faith parishes will meet 6:30 p.m. at St. Peter Church in Ceylon. Easter Sunday services will be at each parish: 7 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome, 8:30 a.m. at First Lutheran in Trimont, 9 a.m. at St. Peter in Ceylon, and 10:30 a.m. at Waverly Lutheran north of Welcome.Churches holding services during April for Circle of Faith parishes are 9 a.m. at St. Peter in Ceylon, and 10:30 a.m. at Waverly Lutheran north of Welcome. The exceptions are for Easter and on April 16 for Rogation Sunday. On April 16, the only service will be 10:30 a.m. at Waverly Lutheran north of Welcome, then there will be a noon potluck meal after that service. St. Paul's United Church of Christ will have an Easter Sunday service at 7 a.m. followed by a pancake breakfast. Area residents are welcome to join these congregation's services.
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt for all children beginning 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Hansen Keck Park in Welcome. This is sponsored by the Welcome Fire Department.
Saturday, April 8, is also the last day for the cribbage tournaments until October or November this year. Registration will begin at 1:15 p.m. at the Welcome Legion Hall, with play getting underway around 1:30 p.m.
Welcome Legion members are scheduled for a 7 p.m. meeting Monday, April 10, at the Legion Hall in Welcome. All members are urged to attend.
Condolences to the family of Deb Chukuske who passed away recently. She will be missed.
Long-time Welcome resident, Mildred Miller, passed away last year and her family is having an estate sale April 13-16 at the family farm located at 919 State Hwy. 263. There will be lots of large size women's clothes and some small appliances and antiques. It will be indoors and they ask cash only payments.
In upcoming events, there will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 14, at the Legion club, 300 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. Also, the Welcome Historical Society will have their annual meeting at 5 p.m. on April 18, followed by a
potluck meal. Plan to attend.
I have received word so far that five churches will have their Tuesday coffee hours this summer, May through September. No one has mentioned April or October yet. This is a good post Covid sign.
