SHERBURN — There will be a CREST-sponsored Lunch and Learn
program about spring planting in pots beginning 11 a.m. today, April 5, at the Sherburn Senior Citizens Center. Participants are asked to bring pictures of spring and a recipe for spring or summer. Following the program there will be a lunch consisting of ham, potato, green bean casserole, cucumber tomato salad and dessert. This is a free program for anyone in Martin County. A free will donation for the lunch is appreciated.
The Sherburn Legion will have ‘Hamburger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. tonight, April 5. A delicious burger, salad and beans cost only $10.
Today, April 5, begins Passover and this week is Holy Week for Christians, the week before Easter. St. Luke’s Catholic Church congregation is welcome to join the Good Shepherd congregation in Jackson for the Maundy Thursday and Good Friday evening services. The Easter service will be held 10:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Luke’s in Sherburn. They will be meeting at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays during the months of April through June. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have Maundy Thursday services at 6 p.m. with communion. On Good Friday, they will have a cross procession through the cemetery (weather permitting) at 5:30 p.m. and services at 6 p.m. at the church. Easter services are at 7 a.m and 9:30 a.m. with a breakfast and egg hunt from 7:30-9:30 a.m. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have Easter services at 10 a.m.
There are several Easter Egg hunts scheduled for towns in the area on Saturday April 8. The Sherburn Lions are sponsoring an egg hunt beginning 9 a.m. at Sherburn City Park and 10 a.m. at the Dunnell Park. Welcome Fire Department will have an egg hunt for all children at 10 a.m. at Keck Park. The Ceylon Helping Hands group will have an egg hunt from 1-4 p.m. at the park in Ceylon. Trimont Town Center will have an egg hunt for children, newborn to 6th grade, at 10:30 a.m. Bring a camera for Easter Bunny photos. Also from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be a rib fest at the Center, then from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be baby animals for the children to see, and at noon they will unveil the Hog Wild Trimont Hogs.

The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 10 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 near the city hall building in Sherburn. Make appointments by calling (507) 238-8500.
The Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” this weekend, April 7-9 and next weekend, April 14-16. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Martin County West Schools will be on spring break from April 7-10. Boys and girls golf will play 4:30 p.m. on April 11 at Blue Earth, and the softball team will play vs. St. Clair/Loyola at 4:30 p.m. on the Good Counsel Campus in Mankato.
Condolences to the family of David Abrahamson who passed away recently. He will be missed.
