SHERBURN -- There will be a Kindergarten Round-Up from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at MCW Elementary School in Sherburn.
There will be a spring rummage sale this weekend at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. Hours are 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 31, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 1. This is always a huge rummage sale and usually a good place to get children's clothes.
On Friday, March 31, there will be an FFA Little International at Brookings, S.D.
Friday, March 31, is also the first day for the school play titled 'Clockwork' which will be held at the Sherburn Theatre. The play is also scheduled for April 1 and April 2. Times are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Due to the play, the theatre will not show a movie this weekend.
Boy Scout troops 69 and 1069 of Sherburn will have a fish fry from 5-8 p.m. (or until the fish is gone) Friday, March 31, at the Sherburn Legion. The public is invited.
This Sunday, April 2, is Palm Sunday the beginning of Holy Week. St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sherburn will switch to their spring schedule of 10:30 a.m. Sunday services which runs from April to June so they will have Palm Sunday service at 10:30 a.m.
City of Sherburn is taking applications for the position of deputy clerk until Friday, March 31, at Sherburn City Hall. For further information, contact city hall by calling (507) 764-4491.
The Sherburn Lions Club will go to Trimont to serve a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Triumph Hall. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and juice. Free will donations will go to the Trimont Chamber for events and projects.
An American Red Cross blood drive will be held 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 3, in the back room at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Check out the dates, locations and times for blood drives in the area by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or go online to www.redcrossblood.org. Give if you are able as there is a drastic need for blood now. Thank you.
Early Childhood Screening for children, ages 3-5, will be held free of charge on April 5, at the Sherburn Elementary School building. The appointments usually take one and a half to two hours to complete. Use the sign up link mentioned in the March newsletter. MCW

Condolences to the families of Donald Erickson and Betty Schumann, who passed away recently. They will be missed.
Congratulations to Katie Hartke who won the REA-sponsored trip to Washington D.C. She is the daughter of Doug and Lisa Hartke and a junior at MCW. She completed an essay on an energy-related topic. She will be one of 1,500 students participating in the free tour of Washington D.C.
Martin County West Schools will have school on April 6, then will have their spring break from April 7-10, with school resuming on April 11. MCW Schools are gearing up for spring sports. The boys baseball team will play a game beginning 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 3, at Mountain Lake. The boys and girls track teams will compete at an indoor meet starting 6 p.m. on Monday, April 3, at MSU in Mankato. The track teams will also meet 4:15 p.m. on April 6, at Mountain Lake. The girls softball team will play Loyola 4:30 p.m. on April 11 at Good Counsel Campus in Mankato, and the boys golf team will compete against Blue Earth at 4:30 p.m. on April 11 and travel and compete against Madelia on April 13.
