Cribbage play today at legion club
CEYLON — There will be a cribbage tournament today, March 18, atthe Welcome Legion Hall, beginning with registration at 1:15 p.m. They are planning to have one more cribbage tournament this season on April 8. Usually, the tournaments run from November to March. There has been a very good number of players. Thank you.
On March 12, the Ceylon Fire Relief Association had a pancake fundraiser. The fire department would like to thank all those who supported them at their pancake feeds. Thank you to all those whohelped with the preparation and serving also. The fire department
purchased helmets to replace their outdated helmets and a thermal camera to see hot spots in a smoky fire. They greatly appreciate the support of the community and local area. The community would like to say thank you to the Ceylon firefighters too.
Midweek Lenten services continue in area churches with the Circle of Faith parishes meeting 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. The dual congregations of Our Savior’s Lutheran and St. Paul’s Lutheran of Wilbert will meet 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our
Savior’s in Ceylon, with a light lunch following the service. Area residents are welcome to join these congregations for services.
American Red Cross blood drives continue in the area with a blood drive on March 24 at Cross Fit in Fairmont, and a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 3, in the back room at Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Ceylon’s Community Day Auction is slated for April 15 this year. There are always numerous garage sales in the community also. Anyone wishing to list their garage sale on the map and City of Ceylon website should contact Linda Bakke by April 11, by calling (507) 632-4509 or email her at obakke@frontiernet.net with the information. Please have name, address, pertinent info as to what will be on the sale, such as multi-party or children’s clothes and sizes, miscellaneous etc., and dates or hours of the sale. Thank you Linda for doing that.
The non-profit group, Helping Hands of Ceylon, is planning an egg hunt from 1-3 p.m. on April 8. Watch for further details. That group is also planning a garage sale on April 14 and 15 and is accepting donations of good clean items to sell that weekend. For further
