Mobile Clinic stop on Monday

SHERBURN — There will be a men’s basketball night beginning 7 p.m. tonight, Jan. 11, at the high school in Sherburn. This is run every Wednesday for only $1. The high school will also have open gym from 1-3 p.m. on Sundays. Remember to wear your sneakers on the gym floor. Also, there will be a youth basketball fundamentals activity from 9-10 a.m. Saturdays, Jan. 14 to Feb. 4. The boys will meet in Sherburn and the girls will meet in Trimont. The cost is $40.

Martin County West Schools will not be open on Monday, Jan. 16, due to an all day teacher’s workshop. No school that day for the students.

Regional Worship Center will host David Nichols at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, and Saturday, Jan. 14, and at their 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Jan. 15.

This weekend, Jan. 13-15, the Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie “a Man Called Otto” starring Tom Hanks. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m Monday, Jan. 16, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m Wednesday, Jan. 18, near the city hall building. To make an appointment, call (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn site.

The CREST Lunch and Learn program will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. This program is free to anyone living in Martin County. A donation to cover the lunch expenses is appreciated.

Sherburn Legion will have ‘Hamburger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18. A burger with all the fixings, a salad, and beans are available for only $10.

There will be a special athletics night in Trimont when the second annual Karson Janssen Memorial Hoops for Heart will be held Friday, Jan. 13. It will be a Maroon night since Karson went to the University of Minnesota. There will be a girls varsity basketball game vs. GFW at 5:45 p.m., and a boys varsity basketball game against Loyola of Mankato at 7 p.m. The family hopes to educate about CPR and AED benefits to save lives. 100 percent of the proceeds goes to the memorial fund. Monies raised last year helped with scholarships and has purchased resuscitation equipment (two resusci anne sets and two defibrillators). This equipment will be used in the MCW weight room and at the fraternity where Karson went to in college. The MCW CPR class was funded and some money was donated to local food shelves. This year there will be a bake sale and a silent auction and apparel with “Be Nice, Be Neat, Be Humble” will be available. There will be a three point shot contest, and a pass the bucket for donations at the games. Doors will be open at 3:45 p.m. at the

Trimont School.

The Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution for the month of January will be held 5:30- 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn just south of I-90. There is no income or residential guidelines and for just $25 you will receive an abundance of food. Please have your trunk open and ready for the boxes.

Athletes from MCW are gearing up and really busy in January. On Jan. 12, the gymnastics team will travel to New Ulm at 6 p.m., the wrestling team will go to Fairmont at 6 p.m., the girls basketball team will play Nicollet at 7 p.m. in Trimont, the boys basketball team will play MVL at 7 p.m. in Sherburn, the girls hockey team will travel to Marshall at 7:30 p.m., while the boys hockey team will battle Marshall beginning 7:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Arena. On Friday, Jan. 13, the gymnastics team will be in Windom at 6 p.m. and the boys and girls basketball teams will both be in Trimont at the special ’Hoops for Heart’ Night. The girls game is at 5:45 p.m. and boys game is at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 14, the gymnastics team will be at the Jackson Invitational and the wrestling team will be at Pipestone beginning 10 a.m. On Monday, Jan. 16, the gymnastics team will be in Jackson and the boys basketball team will play 7 p.m. at St. James, the girls hockey team will travel to Windom for a 7 p.m. game and the boys hockey team will battle Luverne at 7 p.m. at the Fairmont Arena. On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the gymnastics team will go to St. James for a 6 p.m. meet, the girls basketball team will go to Loyola in Mankato for a 7 p.m. game. Good luck to all the Mavericks.
