Santa Day event Saturday at legion

WELCOME – This will be a busy weekend in Welcome. Saturday, Dec. 10, there will be a Santa Day for children of all ages from 1-3 p.m. at the Welcome Legion Hall. They will have coloring contests and rides on the fire truck and an opportunity to take a picture with Santa.

A cribbage tournament will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, at at the Welcome Legion. Registration will begin 1:15 p.m. with play getting underway around 1:30 p.m. All cribbage players are welcome. The tournament will also be held Dec. 17, at the Welcome Legion.

Sunday School children for Circle of Faith parishes will help with the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, Dec. 11, at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome. After the service they will have a potluck meal for all.

Lake Promenaders Square Dance Club will meet for some dancing fun at 6 p.m. Sunday evening, Dec. 11, at the Shaw home, 804 First Street in Welcome. For more information call (507) 236-0255.

This weekend, Sherburn Theatre will feature a re-release of the movie Father Stu without expletives called ‘Father Stu-Reborn’ which is rated PG-13. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Welcome Legion will meet 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Welcome Legion Hall. All members are urged to attend.

Wednesday, Dec. 14, will be the last day for Welcome’s faithful and conscientious mail carrier, Renee Amborn. Give her an extra wave that day. Have a happy retirement Renee. Her retirement party will be held 3-5 p.m. on Dec. 17, at the Sherburn Legion. Over 100 Facebook posts lets her know how much she will be missed.

Fire chief, Jay Mulso, would like to thank the people that attended the push-in ceremony for the Welcome Fire Department’s new rescue truck and met the firefighters. They would like to thank area residents for their support.
