FAIRMONT– Seven of the 10 amendments to Fairmont’s city charter failed during Tuesday’s election.

Questions one, an amendment to change the number of wards and city council structure: No 2,053, Yes 1,649.

Question two, an amendment to clarify the form of government: No 2,456, Yes 1,164.

Question three, an amendment prohibiting the mayor from acting as liaison: No 2,229, Yes 1,428.

Question four, an amendment authorizing a council member to open an inquiry: No 1,851, Yes 1,829.

Question five, an amendment to the city administrator’s qualifications: No 1,880, Yes 1,743.

Question six, an amendment to the city administrator’s term of appointment: Yes 2,209, No 1,465.

Question seven, an amendment subjecting the city administrator to an annual review: Yes 2,526, No 1,163.

Question eight, an amendment to the method of the city clerk’s appointment: Yes 2,051, No 1,605.

Question nine, an amendment to the timeline for adopting city ordinances: No 2,003, Yes 1,610.
