Turkey bingo Friday

SHERBURN –There will be a Turkey Bingo sponsored by the Sherburn Fire Department Relief Association beginning 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the Sherburn Legion Hall. There are lots of prizes and a raffle for a smoker/griddle. They have 33 turkeys and two full size Korbert hams and meat raffles. The raffle tickets will be available that night if there are any left. Tickets are available from Sherburn firefighters. Proceeds will be used to purchase fire truck equipment. Support the Sherburn Fire Department and have fun as well.

There is an American Red Cross blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Fairmont Crossfit. There will be also be blood drives from 1-6 p.m. Nov. 7, at the Regional Worship Center just south of I-90 in Sherburn, and Nov. 7, at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. The supply of blood is at a very low amount now and blood is needed. Each

donation of blood could save up to three lives.

The Regional Worship Center is celebrating 100 years of ministry in the area at their 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Oct. 30. Special speaker will be former pastor, Steven Nordyke, who served as pastor there for 21 years. After the special service, there will be a meal and afterthe meal, there will be time for remembering and visiting. There will

be an open house from 2-4 p.m. for those who were not able to join them earlier. They invite area residents to come, have cake and visit and remember and celebrate with the congregation and Pastor Nordyke.

Condolences to the family of Donna Quade who passed away last week. She will be missed.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature the new release ‘Ticket to Paradise’ this weekend, Oct. 28-31. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

There are Trunk and Treat opportunities in the area for trick or treaters. There will be a trunk and treat at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30,in Welcome. On Monday, Oct 31, there will be a trunk and treat from 5:30-7 p.m. at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn. They will have

hot chocolate or apple cider and have some non candy items for those who cannot have sweets. And in Dunnell, trick or treaters may come to the west side of City Hall at 5 p.m. Monday, for the Dunnell Dungeon Trunk and Treats. Thank you to these community members for offering safe and fun Halloween fun for the children.

Just a reminder that the Community Chest is collecting monies for all the special projects helped by Community Chest until Oct. 31. Donations can be mailed to Box 504, Sherburn, MN 56171 or dropped off at Bank Midwest in Sherburn. Thank you for helping others.

Tuesday coffee hours in November will be held 8:30-10 a.m. on Nov. 1, at the Sherburn Legion, then on Nov. 15 and Nov. 29, to avoid the holiday and election days. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, cookies, and fellowship on those days.

Martin County West activities include a cross-country section meet on Thursday, Oct. 27, and a volleyball playoff game beginning 7 p.m.that night at Trimont High School. Nov. 8 is election day, so if you haven’t voted by mail make sure you vote that night. There are

candidates for Sherburn City Council; Sarah Kramer, Brad Ringnell and Carlee Miller (incumbents) and Tessa Ulmen. MCW School Board needs three members and Sarah Rohman and Nathan Vrieze (incumbents) and Danielle Wilmes have filed as candidates. The current Mayor, Robert Roessler, has filed for re-election. Check out all the state and national candidates too.

Upcoming events include a Sherburn Lions Club pancake breakfast on Dec. 4. A Deck the Halls Civic and Commerce Club holiday special event will be Dec. 2-4. Think about bringing a tree and decorating it your special way for prizes at the community hall. This is open to all (friends, businesses, neighbors, church groups, etc.).
