Blood Drive in Welcome on Monday

CEYLON — Today, Oct. 15, there is a cribbage tournament that will start around 1:30 p.m. at the Welcome Legion Hall. All area cribbage players are welcome. They plan to have cribbage play in Ceylon when the road construction is done.

There are two potluck meals in the area scheduled Sunday, Oct. 16. First, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert is having a potluck after their Sunday mission service and program featuring Tim Beckendorf, a Bible translator from Botswana. Their service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Secondly, a potluck is planned at Waverly Lutheran Church

north of Welcome after their 10:30 a.m. service. Area residents are welcome at these special events.

There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. There will also be a blood drive on Oct. 28, at Cross Fit in Fairmont, and two blood drives on Nov. 7 in Northrop and Sherburn. Give the gift of life, give blood. Each donation could save three lives.

The drawing for the raffle fundraiser for the Halloween party in Ceylon will be today. There are prizes of $100 gift certificate from Welcome Meats, $50 gift certificate from Lake Belt Bar and Grill, and a $50 certificate from Hyvee. The Halloween Party will be held 2-4 p.m. on Oct. 22, in the back room at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill. They plan to have hotdogs, chips and cookies and lots of fun activities like coloring, games, a picture booth for parents to take pictures, decorated tables to earn a prize, a scary coffin and fun for all. Tuesday coffee hours for October continue from 8:30-10 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. November coffee hours are planned for Sherburn Legion on Nov. 1, 15, and 29. Ceylon Coffee Lovers group meets 8:30-10 a.m. every Thursday in the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill.

Martin Luther High School will have their annual fall rummage and bake sale Oct. 20-22 in Northrop. This is a huge rummage sale with affordable prices and lots of clothes and miscellaneous items. It has been a good place to purchase school clothes for children. Plan to attend.
