Coat drive happening now

TRUMAN — Fire won’t wait so plan your escape during Fire Prevention Week, now throught Saturday. Everyone needs to be prepared in advance, so that they know what to do when the smoke alarm sounds. Have a plan for everyone in the home.

Come to the Truman Library at 2 p.m. today, for an adult craft. You will receive a picture frame, a pumpkin silhouette and then just cut out magazine pages to make a neat “fall picture.” The library supplies everything.

A meat raffle will begin 6 p.m. Friday evening at Aardvarks Bar and Grill in Truman. Proceeds going to the THS trap shooting team.

An open house bridal shower for Taylor Shoen will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the fellowship room at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. Taylor is the bride-to-be of Eric Muehlbach and daughter of Don and Dawn Shoen. They are registered at Amazon and Target.

Truman Fire Department Burger Bash night will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday. Come to the Truman Fire Hall to enjoy a grilled hamburger or cheeseburger, chips, cookie, and bottled water for a free-will donation. Delivery is available within the Truman Fire District by calling Ron at (952) 201-3095 or Jason at (507) 848-0170. Proceeds go to the fire equipment fund.

Lewisville Legion Auxiliary chicken supper will be held 5-6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lewisville Legion. Dine in or take out. Enjoy chicken, potato, vegetable, and salad bar.

Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Truman City Hall.

Wednesday is recycling day. Containers should be curbside by 7 a.m. with all recycling materials clean.

Second Harvest Heartland, Nutrition Assistance Program for seniors, will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Come to Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman to pick up your box. Eligibility is based on age, 60 years and up, household size in income. Preregister at 1-800-365-0270.

Elizabeth Chevrolet is hosting a coat, hat, and gloves/mittens drive taking place until Oct. 31. Accepting new or gently-used coats. You can drop off your donations at the dealership in Truman.

Coffee times on Wednesday mornings begin at 8:30 a.m. and from 9-11 a.m., you can play “500” at the Truman Community Building. Registration is not required. If you would like more information, just call Marlene at (507) 236-6002.
