THS Homecoming parade set for Friday

TRUMAN — Truman High School Homecoming parade begins 2 p.m. Friday. It will start at the school parking lot, then looping to Ciro Street, through downtown, then back to the school.

Friday is also Chewing Gum Day. Don’t worry about digesting gum as we actually don’t, and it passes through in 1 1/2 to 2 days.

Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday. All meetings are open to the public.

The Truman Pride group will meet 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room at Truman School. Join them and help Truman Public School succeed. Follow them at http://www.facebook.com/trumanpride. How can you get involved? Contact: Paula Heckman at (507) 236-6774, Nichole Shell at (507) 236-5977, Courtney Studer at (507) 327-6917, or Elizabeth Miller at (507) 382-8970. Pride in our school, Pride in our students, Pride in their future.

Wednesday is recycling day. Be sure all your cardboard is broken down and all cans/bottles are clean.

The Truman Church of Christ has been in existence in this community for 121 years. It was established in October of 1901 by 13 charter members. God bless you with many more.

October is National Pork Month. Thank you Martin County Pork Producers, for all you do. October is also Cosmetology Month. Thank you to all the amazing stylists in our lives.

Fluorescent bulb recycling will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Tractor Supply parking lot, 1215 N. State St. in Fairmont. Fluorescent lamps contain mercury and are considered a hazardous waste product. It is against the law to dispose of

fluorescent bulbs and ballast with your regular garbage. This recycling event serves the residents and businesses of Martin and Faribault Counties. When transporting the lamps, be careful not to break them. There will be a charge at the time of disposal. Straight

fluorescent lamps 4′ and under will be $.50; over 4′ will be $.90; and high intensity discharge lamps (HID) will be $5.
