Fiber optic internet open house Tuesday

CEYLON – There will be one more Tuesday coffee hours in August from 8:30-10 a.m. on Aug. 30, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Tuesday coffee hours for September will be at St. Paul’s UCC Church in Welcome, and October coffee hours will be at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Meanwhile, the Thursday Coffee Lovers group meets 8:30-10 a.m. every Thursday at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. All area men and women are encouraged to attend these opportunities for fellowship.

There will be an opportunity to find out information about the fiber optic internet coming to Ceylon on Tuesday at Mondale Park. Federated Rural Electric company will host an open house picnic for Ceylon residents with hotdogs and water. The purpose of this is to

help inform residents about the upcoming installation process and the internet.

Condolences to the family of long-time Ceylon resident, Barb (Vernon) Koehler. Condolences also to the family of Stella Stade. They both will be missed.

The Ceylon Legion met last week and will send letters to their members to learn their opinion of the proposed merger with the legion post in Welcome. Legion officers urge those who receive letters to reply as soon as possible. The Second District of the Legion will help the post decide what is best for all.

Congratulations to those who have won ribbons at the Martin County Fair and state fair trips. Thank you to the fair board for another Minnesota Big Fair in Fairmont. Sunday is the last day of the fair.

• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at Crossfit in Fairmont.

• September 6-8 at the Best Western in Fairmont. Hours are 12:30-6:30 p.m. on Sept. 6, noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 7, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 8.

• 2-7 p.m. on Sept. 26 at St. John Vianney in Fairmont.
