Unofficial results from the primary election on Tuesday showed that incumbent Martin County Sheriff Jeff Markquart received nearly 70 percent of votes counted while James Kotwea received about 21 percent. Jonathan Auringer received about 9 percent. The top two candidates will move on to the general election in November.
