Last weekend for Ceylon Museum

CEYLON — Ceylon Area Historical Society Museum will be open from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, This is the last summer hours for the museum. Otherwise they will be open by appointment. Call any director, Ronnie Leiding, Tom Bents, Greg Bents, Marilyn Stelter, Ann Yackle or Steve Houfer to make an appointment.

Tuesday coffee hours for August continue from 8:30-10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for goodies, coffee and fellowship. September coffee hours are planned for St. Paul’s UCC Church in Welcome.

Thursday Coffee Lovers continue to meet 8:30-10 a.m. in the back room of Lake Belt Bar and Grill, formerly Legends ll, in Ceylon. All area men and women are welcome to join them.

Circle of Faith parishes are reminded that during August there is a Wednesday evening service at 7 p.m. at the Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome. The other churches will continue their regular services times on Sundays.

The LWML ladies group at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have their August meeting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. All members and anyone interested is welcome to attend.

Ceylon City Council meeting for August has been changed from Aug. 9 to Aug. 16 due to the primary election. They meet at 6 p.m. at Ceylon City Hall. There is always time at the beginning of each meeting for public comments and questions.

Affidavits of candidacy for the Mayor position and the two council positions will be taken at Ceylon City Hall during August until Aug. 16. The mayoral term is two years and the council terms are four years.

Did you miss the meeting about the broadband internet coming to Ceylon from REA? There is another meeting planned for Aug. 23 at the park. Plan now to attend.

Condolences to the family of David McGranahan from Fairmont, who passed away this week. He has relatives in the Ceylon area. Our sympathies.
