Welcome looks into tree removal
WELCOME– The Welcome City Council met Tuesday evening and discussed the request from Central Specialties for a trailer to be parked at the wastewater treatment plant while their company works on the Hwy 263 project. They would need electricity and water. The council approved the request for $300 a month rent and water meter and electricity from REA. The gate to the wastewater plant is locked most of the time.
There was a question about the mower blades bought from Yeager Implement in Blue Earth. The council asked the City employee to look for less expensive ones if possible.
There are several ash trees in the City that are dying and should be cut down. The City employee will look into that. The council reminded him that the tree removal account does not have a lot of money in it. He should cut only the dead trees owned by the City. Some of the dead trees are at the park and there are plans discussed to renovate the park, tennis courts to basketball, and zip line. Discussion led to a request for a plan and layout of equipment before any digging or concrete and tree removal is done. The council will ask the Park Committee to help in the planning part.
The City employee was reminded of several things that needed repairs or clean up and he has a list in the works. He had done some items mentioned and others were “in the works.” The police were asked to look into some ordinance violations with the hope that the resident will clean it up before any citations or fees for cleaning it would be put on the taxes for the resident.
The next meeting for the Welcome City Council is scheduled 6 p.m. on July 5, at the Welcome City Hall.
