WELCOME -- During the month of June, the First Lutheran congregation will be having 7 p.m. services on Wednesday. The other Circle of Faith churches will have their regular hours for Sunday services: St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon at 8:30 a.m.; Waverly north of Welcome at 9 a.m.; and Trinity in Welcome at 10:30 a.m. Area residents are welcome to join them for services. Circle of Faith parishes are welcome to take drive through communion from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. this Sunday and on June 19, at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome or Waverly Lutheran north of Welcome.
There will be Tuesday coffee hours during the month of June from 8:30-10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good brew and great fellowship.
There will be a Martin County Relay for Life fundraiser and ceremonies about the American Cancer Society on Saturday, June 25, at the Martin County Fairgrounds, Fairmont. This year the whole program is planned: silent auction, live auction, survivor's lap, caregiver's lap, luminaries, music and meal and many activities. Plan now to attend.
The Old 16 Bar and Grill will feature live music and karaoke entertainment every second Sunday. They also have meal specials like beef commercials on Fridays. Check them out on Facebook or their website, www.Old16Inc.com. They are planning a car show during the Welcome Festival and a Paul Christian performance from 4-7 p.m. on July 17. Shop locally.
Welcome Summer Festival is July 15-16. The parade is at 3:30 p.m. on the 16th. There will be inflatables, vendor shows, food trucks, tractor pull for kids, meals at the Legion on Friday and Saturday nights, Shell's Hobo Band, and Groove and street dance with Rhino band on Main Street, and a medallion hunt. Don't miss the fun. Plan now to attend. Lots of rummage sales pop up that weekend also.
City of Welcome has been sending letters to the section of town that should be installing water meters. Please make an appointment to get this done ASAP. Make sure the grass on properties is mowed and the sump pump is connected to the storm sewer or on the lawn during the summer months.
