There will be a Lunch & Learn event beginning 11 a.m. today at the Senior Citizens Center on First Street in Sherburn. This is free and open to anyone in Martin County with a free will donation appreciated for the lunch. They will have a salad luncheon with fresh baked bread and a dessert following the program about spring activities for seniors in the area.
Tonight is the famous 'Hamburger Night' from 5-8 p.m. at the Sherburn Legion. The menu includes grilled hamburgers with all the fixings, salad, and beans for only $8. Also, the Sherburn Legion and Legion Auxiliary is meeting at 7 p.m. on May 10. All members are urged to attend. Watch for information about Memorial Day plans at 10:30 a.m. on May 30, at the Sherburn City Park.
Mayo Mobile Clinic Van will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, May 9, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, by the Sherburn City Hall. To make an appointment, call (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn clinic.
Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie "Father Stu" for the weekends of May 6-8 and May 13-15. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The choir concert will be held 7 p.m. Monday, May 9, at MCW High School in Sherburn. Plan now to attend.
The city-wide Clean Up Day for Sherburn city residents is May 14. There will be curbside pick up if the items have a tag. The pile must be with in 5 feet X 10 feet X 4 feet high. Check out the list for unaccepted and accepted items on the city website. Appliances and electronics may be brought to the site for a fee. For questions, call (507) 764-4491. Now is a good time to get rid of the items that may be an ordinance violation later. Items on the curb now may be repurposed for free.
Sherburn Liquor Store will be having a kickoff to Summer Give Away during May. Sign up for free stuff. Drawings for shirts, sweatshirts, beer, booze, and lots more are held every Monday and Friday in May.
Other upcoming events include the Ruby’s Pantry food distribution, which will be held 5:30-7 p.m. on May 16 at the Regional Worship Center just south of I-90 in Sherburn. They have added a way to pre-pay the $25 by going online to rubyspantry.org and find the express track link. This will help avoid having cash and a number will be given that must be handed to the pay person who takes the donations. Remember there is no residence or income guidelines to receive several pre-packed boxes of groceries in your trunk as you drive through.
The Regional Worship Center is also the site for an American Red Cross blood drive from 1-7 p.m.on June 6. Make an appointment early to get the time you want. MCW athletes are busy in May with a baseball game at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday in Nicollet, and a softball game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the ball fields in Welcome. On Friday, the boys and girls track squads will go to the Sentinel Relays at 4 p.m. in Fairmont, and the boys and girls golf teams will go to Madelia at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, the girls softball team will play two games beginning 8 a.m. in Windom. The boys baseball team will have a game 5 p.m. on Monday, May 9, in Austin. On Tuesday, May 10, the boys and girls track teams will be in Maple River, and the boys golf team will have a golf meet at 4:30 p.m. at the North Links Golf Course in North Mankato. Also, the softball and baseball teams will go to Sleepy Eye at 5 p.m. on May 10. Good luck Mavericks.
