CEYLON – Area churches continue their mid-week Lenten services on Wednesday with the dual congregations of St. Paul’s in Wilbert and Our Savior’s Lutheran in Ceylon having their Lenten service in Ceylon at 6:30 p.m. followed by a light lunch. Circle of Faith

congregations will gather 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon.

Condolences to the family of Randy Laue who died this week in Pennsylvania. He is a former Ceylon resident with family still in Minnesota. He will be missed by brother Rodney Laue and others.

April is not too far off and there are American Red Cross blood drives scheduled in the area. The blood drives scheduled are from 1-7 p.m. on April 18, at St. Vianney in Fairmont, and 12:30-5:30 p.m. on April 25, at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. There’s still a great need for blood so if you are able, please donate. To find a blood drive near you or a date you can give, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online to redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999.

The big news in Ceylon for April is probably the 87th annual Ceylon Community Day Auction beginning 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, using 2-3 rings. Consignments will be taken March 31 to April 7 by Mark Howell (712) 260-9690, Larry Howell (712) 260-9693 or Gary Helmers (507) 236-2921. Pictures and information will be on Facebook for those who consign early. That day is traditionally the day for rummage/garage sales in Ceylon also. Many start on Friday. There will be a map organized by Linda Bakke and she would like

information by April 5. Her phone number is (507) 632-4509 and her email is obakke@frontiernet.net. There will be paper maps. The map will be on the City of Ceylon website, www.cityofceylon.com. Thank you to Linda for again compiling the information.

Sunday is the first day of Spring. I am looking for signs of spring. Some robins have been noticed and I heard a flock of geese going north the other day. It may be March but remember it is also Minnesota. Snow has happened in April in some years. I am thinking spring though.

Starting at $2.99/week.
