Silent auction Feb. 5

WELCOME – Condolences to the families of Nancy (Tish) Leylt and James Roberts, former Welcome residents, and John Hilgendorf, long-time Welcome area resident, who passed away last week. They will be missed.

The end of January is near with February beginning next week. Maybe it will get warmer? Circle of Faith congregations at Waverly Lutheran, north of Welcome, and First Lutheran in Trimont, will be changing start times for their Sunday services in February. Waverly

Lutheran will begin their service at 9 a.m. and First Lutheran in Trimont will start their service at 10:30 a.m.

Next Saturday, Feb. 5, there will be a silent auction and spaghetti supper at the high school in Sherburn as a benefit for the Cody and Margo McDonald family whose house in Welcome burned on Jan. 1. The bidding for silent auction items will begin at 3 p.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. with winning bids announced at 6 p.m. or called if not present. The spaghetti supper will start at 4:30 p.m.

The American Red Cross blood supply or reserve is very low due to several reasons like weather, Covid, and students not in schools. Please give blood if you are able. Blood drives are scheduled from Feb. 15-17 in Fairmont, on Feb. 21 in Trimont, and Feb. 28 at St. Paul’s UCC in Welcome. The Red Cross is experiencing the worst blood shortage in over a decade. The dangerously low blood supply levels have forced some hospitals to defer patients from major surgery, including organ transplants. For information about blood

drive locations or to make an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online to www.redcrossblood.org or text Blood App to 90999. Make appointments early since they fill up and there are still no walk-ins allowed due to Covid protocols. Doing a

Rapid Pass the day of your appointment speeds up the time during registration.

A huge welcome to the new Welcome City Works employee, David Bach. Help him get acquainted with residents when he begins his duties.
