Food assistance available

WELCOME — There will be a cribbage tournament beginning 1:15 p.m. Saturday at the Welcome Legion Hall. All area cribbage players are welcome. The entry fee goes to the winnings.

There will be an open house come-and-go bridal shower for Jordan Meyer of rural Welcome from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, in the back room at Legends ll in Ceylon. Jordan is the daughter of Steve and Lori Meyer and bride-to-be of Wyatt Burmeister, son of Amanda

Monk and Brian and Laurie Burmeister. Friends and relatives are cordially invited. Best wishes to Jordan and Wyatt.

Circle of Faith congregations may go through drive thru communion from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome or Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome.

Heaven’s Table Food Shelf is now providing food distribution to area towns. Welcome is now partnering with them to provide food assistance to families and individuals in need. For more information or to sign up, please contact Welcome City Hall and Deb Hansen at

Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday at Welcome City Hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be placed on the regular agenda, please contact the city hall prior to

Cody and Margo McDonald lost their home in Welcome due to a fire on Jan. 1. There will be a silent auction/spaghetti supper benefit for them at 3 p.m. on Feb. 5, at the high school in Sherburn. The silent auction will begin at 3 p.m. and bidding will close at 5:30 p.m. The spaghetti supper will begin at 4:30 p.m. The winning auction bids will be announced starting at 6 p.m. Winning bidders need not be present to be notified. The winning bidders will also be called if not present.
