Old 16 Bar and Grill opening soon

WELCOME– For several months the Korte’s Bar and Grill on the south side of Welcome has been closed. It will be re-opening as Old 16 Bar and Grill on January 11 under new ownership. Renee Amis and Chris Taylor have leased the building.

The couple said it’s similar to Korte’s but with some equipment and restroom updates. The basics will stay the same with some favorite menu items returning soon. All licenses are approved and they are eager to start their new adventure. Neither one of them is new to adventures or new to Welcome. Renee is the daughter of Max Amis who was a bookkeeper at the Welcome Legion and Carol and Keith Thiesse who are (were) welcome residents. Chris says he was a Navy Brat so is from all over.

They actually met at Korte’s when they worked in the kitchen. They spent seven years in South Dakota and returned to Welcome in 2021. They will operate the Old 16 Bar and Grill with pool tables and darts available and live music will be coming soon. They are looking for part time help with bartending and cooking nights and weekends. Watch for specials on Facebook and their website.

Renee and Chris are looking forward to being the new business people in Welcome along with Welcome Meats’s new owners, where they purchase their meat for old 16. They are glad Kortes encouraged them to purchase the business and hope to see many area residents in their establishment in 2022.

Information about the hours can be seen on their website, old16inc.com, or on Facebook. They will feature a full breakfast menu from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. for early risers and night shift workers going home. The grill will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. (open 11 am on Sunday) and the bar hours are basically the same. Off Sale hours are 11a.m. to 6p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday with the hours on Tuesday through Saturday being 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The grill closes at 8 p.m. daily. To go is also available.
