St. John’s annual fall dinner Sunday

SHERBURN – There will be no school on Friday because the teachers will have a workshop session. There will also be no school on Nov. 25 and 26 for fall break.

A Bingo feather party will be held 7 p.m. Friday evening at the Sherburn Legion. There will be 30 turkeys to win and there will also be drawings for door prizes like steak dinners.

There will be a prime rib supper sponsored by the Sherburn Lions Club from 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sherburn Legion Club. Advance tickets of $22 may be purchased from any Lions member or at Ringnell Insurance, Amborn Lumber or Bank Midwest in Sherburn. Tickets at the door will be $23. Proceeds will help fund Lions Club community projects.

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have their annual fall dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21. The menu will include: cheesy turkey sandwich, pulled pork sandwich or beef brisket sandwich, various salads and pies and desserts. Carry-out will be available. The cost will be free will donation and the proceeds will help support a seminary student. Thrivent Financial will help this fundraiser. Sounds yummy, especially the pies.

The movie “Ghostbuster’s Afterlife” will show this weekend at the Sherburn Theatre. Movie times will be 7 p.m. Friday, 7 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Sherburn City Council will have a public hearing concerning the municipal liquor store and then have their regular council meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22. Please note the change of date for the council meeting.

Regional Worship Center has its usual Monday morning breakfast from 8-10 a.m., and on On Wednesday evening, they have a supper at 6 p.m. for a free will donation. Following the supper they have adult Bible class and King’s Kids (kindergarten to 6th grade) at 7 p.m. All area residents are welcome.

Condolences to the family of Florence Studer, former Sherburn resident, who passed away. She will be missed.

Thank you to all those who donated blood at the Red Cross blood drive in Sherburn on Nov. 8. They collected 75 units which surpassed their goal. Thank you also to those who helped at the registration desk, canteen and other areas.
