Where did the summer go? It is September already.

This Monday will be Labor Day so check to see if things are open or events scheduled since it is a holiday.

The Welcome Senior Citizens usually meet on the first Monday of the month but since it is a Labor Day Holiday they will meet on Sept. 13 for their noon potluck. Plan to attend.

The area churches begin fall service times with St. Paul’s United Church of Christ beginning their Sunday service at 9:30 a.m. now, Trinity Lutheran in Welcome will be at 10:30 a.m., and Waverly Lutheran will begin their every other month schedule with services in Sept. at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and in October they will have services at 9 a.m. The other Circle of Faith congregation in Ceylon will have 8:30 a.m. services, and The First Lutheran congregation in Trimont will have every other month schedule with the opposite month in Waverly. They will have Sept. services at 9:00 a.m. and October services at 10:30 a.m. All Circle of Faith parishes are asked to wear a mask when indoors and the hymns will be cut one hymn. The congregation members are asked to remember there is drive through communion two Sundays a month from 11:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. at Trinity in Welcome and Waverly north of Welcome when Covid conditions are high in the county. Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at city hall. There is always a time for public comment/questions at the beginning of each meeting with no prior notice. If anyone wants to be on the regular agenda please contact the city clerk prior to the meeting at (507) 728-8740.

Condolences to the family of Floyd Rosenberg who passed away this week. He will be missed.

Area schools will begin this coming week so make sure to watch for excited children getting on and off school buses. Make sure to stop for the stop arm on the bus when extended. Have a Safe and Happy Labor Day Holiday and school year.
