Swimming lessons begin soon

TRUMAN — Truman Museum is open from 1-4 p.m. on Fridays. Be sure to check out all school reunion displays. Thank you to Penny Ritter and Jane Traver for the memories of THS.

The first session of swimming lessons at the Truman Pool will be held June 21-29. The details and registration are on the city’s website (http://trumanmn.us/recreation). The pool is open 1-5 p.m. and from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Weekdays from noon to 1 p.m. is for adult lap swimming and from 5:30-6:30 p.m. is for water aerobics. If you would like to be a participant in the Truman Days parade held on July 24, go to the Truman website, and fill out the registration form.

Fairmont Chamber of Commerce is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a Martin County student in a business-related field entering their junior or senior post secondary year in a four-year college or their final year in a technical college. The scholarship is awarded after a review of grades to confirm achievement of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Scholarship applications may be picked up at the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce office located at 323 East Blue Earth Avenue or filled out online on the Chamber’s website at www.fairmontchamber.org. Applications must be submitted and received by the chamber office no later than July 17, 2021.

Trinity Luther Church in Truman is holding “coffee time” 8:30 a.m. every Tuesday. You are welcome to come and enjoy coffee, rolls and fellowship.

Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. on Monday. There is always a time for comments/concerns as meetings are open to the public.

Martin County Relay for Life alternative drive-thru event will be held 4-8 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the Martin County fairgrounds. A free will donation to-go meal will include pork chop on a stick, chips, cookie, and water. Their event might look different this year, but their mission is clear, they are there to celebrate, remember and fight back against a disease that takes too much. They look forward to your support.
